"I hear we ran a test print. My studio assistant was very impressed, pun intended. She said, "It is like butter." Thanks for everything."

"I got the press and it is perfect and gorgeous. The shipping crate was a sight to behold...I'm considering turning it into a summer home. Mel Whelan for President!"

"I love this! I wish I had more time; it's so easy. I can get better pressure and a much better print than I could before, especially with drypoints."

"We gathered artists and townspeople to help carry the crates into the studio and by 7 in the evening the press was set up. Your instructions were brilliant -- the pictures especially appreciated. John Smalley has been using the press ever since and pronounces it magnificent in every way. It is of course elegant to look at as well and we're all delightedly showing it off to all who might be interested."

"I have been mono-printing for more than 10 years on an assortment of large motorized moving bed etching presses, producing prints as large as 40 x 60 with a lot of rumble, pressure and tape. So, when I went out on my own, I wanted a press that was portable, could produce a large format print and was affordable. Nothing else was even close to the Whelan Press PRO. The press came completely assembled and ready to go. I could have started printing in the parking lot... After reading the Owner's Manual, I determined a pressure setting of 3.5 for my mono-prints. Seventy five (75) plates later, no misprints due to pressure or registration. The real difference is the quality of the prints. WOW!... If you want every layer of ink and every dot reproduced faithfully, this is your press. All that and topped off with great customer service."

"As we come to the close of another year, I wanted to tell you again how proud I am to represent the Whelan Press for Daniel Smith Art Materials.
Our customers love the pricing, rapid delivery time, ease of un-crating and set-up, the detailed Owner's Manual, the press's mobility, the quality and durability of construction, and of course the ability to "pull a perfect impression, first time, every time"!
On these last three points, I have my own story to share with you.
As you know I use my Whelan Press to teach non-toxic printmaking workshops. I transport my press on a small flatbed trailer. The trailer has a tilt function by pulling the clevis pin on the trailer tongue. I released the tie-downs and released the pressure from the roller assembly on the press. Because the trailer was parked on a slight incline, the roller assembly began to move. The shift of weight caused the bed of the trailer to tilt and the press took off! When the casters crashed into the asphalt, the press flipped mid air and came to rest upside down in my driveway.
It was at once the most spectacular and effortless press unloading to date.
I righted the press, rolled it into the studio and pulled a perfect impression. The only damage sustained was a slight dent in the tool tray.
I would never recommend this method of unloading, but it speaks worlds about the mobility, durability and outstanding performance of the Whelan Press.
May 2003' bring you continued success."
Cheers!

"It has taken this long after the holidays for things to calm down enough for me to write you. I received my XPress from my partner amy at xmas. The whole family was in on it and present for the unveiling of the box. I was shocked! I mean really shocked! Of course I recognized the outside of the crate immediately as I had just helped my friend to uncrate and set up her new press the week before. We have some great pictures walking down the middle of our street moving the press on a dolly the two blocks to our house.
I want to thank you for helping Amy pull off the greatest coup yet. She had listened to me go on and on how great this press was, how innovative the design..on and on for over a year. But still she is no printmaker and was dealing in foreign territory for sure. I am totally happy with all the choices you helped her to make about the press. Even the Blanket Manager which I would not have picked but now I don't know how I could have lived without it."

"I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how it has been going with the new press. It has been great! I have been using it a lot and have been getting super prints. In fact, I needed to reprint some old plates for a portfolio review that required a different format [bigger paper surround]. Under normal conditions I never reprint after I am done with an edition but these were special circumstances. I had etchings, aquatints and several mezzotints and in every case the new prints were signifcantly better. The difference was astonishing and noticeable to everyone who saw them. I printed the same way,the only difference was the press. Amazing!"
